They say April showers bring May flowers and this year we also have an amazing art

Call up your art loving crew, put on your best artsy attire and book your calendars for these exciting openings in May!
1. Part of Me: A Solo Show by Bibi Tran
Dates: May 7 to June 7
Venue: Revelation Gallery, 224 Waverly Place, New York, NY 10014
Tickets: RSVP
A reclamation of parts forgotten. Once encompassed by the compartmentalization of
self with other entities, Bibi Tran steps outside herself, seeing a past life through new
lenses.
Decoding experiences through color and symbolism, Bibi steps beyond social
entrapments and into a space where she is able to connect with pure creative flow, a
divine energy, a healing, paving the birth for a new style, and a new self.
Her hope is the the viewer can create neural associations with their personal
connections and experiences by interpreting the colors and symbols in their own way;
that this new series can be a mirror into the prismatic myriad of ways we relate to
other and how other unlocks dimensions of us we never knew existed…
Opening reception is May 7 at 6pm.
2. Whitney Biennial: Even Better than the Real Thing
This survey of American art takes place every two years and has been a hallmark of
the Whitney since 1932. The curation is a variety of sculpture, paintings, photography
and film. This exhibit is perfect for a Sunday afternoon visit to entertain an out-oftown guest followed by a coffee or cocktail in the cafe on the 8th floor of the museum.
Or take a stroll through the West Village post museum and find some delicious gelato.
Our editor’s pick is Anita Gelato!
We loved Takako Yamagushi’s abstract and luscious seascapes with unexpected
elements for a fresh take on surrealism. Maja Ruznic’s beautiful color palates of pinks
and greens on the same floor are a visual delight to behold. Upside down tipi by
Cannupa Hanska Luger was another one of our favorites with the bright pinks and
oranges.
If you chose the wrong footwear and need a rest, fear not! There is a film in this exhibit
as well with comfortable seating if you can’t wait to sit at the cafe upstairs. The
curators really thought of everything!
The mandate of this exhibit was to gather artists who explore the permeability of the
relationships between mind and body. Take a stroll and let us know what you think!
